We have had a wonderful first home here in Brett Road. The living space opening onto the garden is my favourite place in the house, as you can enjoy the outside all year round. Being enclosed by gardens and with a nearby flock of house sparrows, who sing all year round, makes the garden feel like a small oasis in the heart of Hackney. Moments away, on the Narrow Way, is our favourite café, Palaette. I recommend the "Dirty English Brekky", "Live Life on the Veg" or the "Spread Hummus Not Hate". If markets are your cup of tea, a minute's walk away is Bohemia Place, which has a weekend market serving food and local crafts (they are also home to the Bulk Store - a favourite of ours!). Nearby are the popular Broadway Market and lesser known Netil market, which both have amazing food and more local crafts. A short walk away is Hackney Marshes and the River Lea, which you can walk, cycle or even canoe (check out the Moo canoes) up to Walthamstow marshes, Tottenham marshes and more green space beyond. This is one of our favourite weekend activities! For nights out, both Broadway Market and Bohemia Place are home to a range of breweries, bars and pubs - we recommend Pub on the Park on London Fields and The Old Ship on Mare Street.
