Fine & Country - Canterbury Agent Valuation of this property is £1,100,000

Description:

This charming, detached period property was originally built around 1913 and still retains some delightful pre WW1 features that you can appreciate before even crossing the threshold. These include a fascinating frieze above the front door, some impressive stained glass windows that go up the stairs and a herringbone patterned brick outer wall. Set well back from the road it is approached via a gravel driveway where you can park three or four cars and flanked by a lawn and a patio leading to the attractive original wood front door. Once inside you can see some of the internal period features that give the house its delightful character. There is herringbone parquet flooring in the sitting room as well as pine doors, wooden skirting and picture and dado rails flowing throughout much of the property. In the good sized country style kitchen & breakfast area you will find wood units and a gas Aga as well as a matching dresser and a walk-in pantry and access to the rear terrace. However this area is a real blank canvas for anyone wanting to create their own ‘hub of the household' haven. The elegant dining room is just the place for more formal entertainment with its attractive square bay window and doors to the decked terrace . The large sitting room, with windows on two sides and French doors to the terrace, is light and bright but also has a charming fireplace with a multi fuel burner that you can sit around on a cold winter's evening. The ground floor also includes a utility/cloakroom area and a large family room that has an independent front door leading to the front terrace. This could easily be converted into a separate annex for anyone with elderly relatives, adult children or even as a holiday let. On the first floor there is a galleried landing with fitted shelving leading to the family bathroom and separate cloakroom as well as to four bedrooms including a single, two doubles and the impressive main bedroom where you can watch the wonderful sunrises. It has an en-suite bathroom and access to a dressing room/study or an additional bedroom.

What the Owner says:
“We have thoroughly enjoyed living here for the past 25 years and it has been an ideal place to bring up our family. However they have all flown the nest and we are now going to move nearer to our children so we can spend more time with our grandchild. We have always loved the position of the property because it is so quiet and when we are in the garden all we hear is the sound of the birds singing. We are only a short stroll from the clifftop and the George VI memorial park if you want to take a dog for a run, while children can safely wander along to the sandy beach at Dumpton Gap. At the same time we are not far from Broadstairs town centre with its wide range of individual shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and gorgeous sandy beaches. It is only a mile to Dumpton Park Station or Broadstairs stations although journey times are a little longer than if you go to Ramsgate station. From Ramsgate you can get the high speed train to London in about an hour and a quarter. Broadstairs is a delightful town with annual events such as Folk Week, the Dickens Festival and the Food Fair. It also includes a local cinema and theatre, the excellent North Foreland Golf club, bowls, tennis, rugby and cricket clubs and is not far from the Westwood Cross shopping centre, health clubs and a cinema and casino complex. There are also some excellent state and private schools in the vicinity”.
